Heather Abreu has been an attorney with the Ezequiel Reyna Law Office since 2020, focusing her practice on personal injury litigation. Heather has worked in the legal industry since 2008, working at law firms in Michigan before relocating to Texas. In addition to her current legal work, she has also represented clients in cases involving civil litigation for both the plaintiff and defense.
Upon graduating from law school, Heather represented insurance companies for about 10 years, but became frustrated with their concern for the bottom line over their policyholders’ best interests. She now helps people who are going through difficult times and feel they have nowhere to turn to find justice. Heather is a trial lawyer with experience at every stage of litigation, from filing lawsuits through appeals.
Heather graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature/Letters in 1996. Subsequently, she earned a Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1998. She earned her law degree from Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2009. She has represented clients in a variety of first and third party auto negligence, commercial liability, and property matters.
She grew up on a farm in a small town of about 800 people near Springfield, Illinois, “The Land of Lincoln.” She vowed to become a lawyer during a trip to Lincoln’s law practice. “I learned about how Abe Lincoln never turn down a case, and how he would help people no matter how small or trivial the case seemed or how much money the person had to pay him. It inspired me to become a lawyer so that I could help people,” Heather said.
She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Michigan State Bar Association. She is also a member of the Genesee County Bar Association and Macomb County Bar Association.
Prior to her career in law, she worked as an English teacher and PIP claim representative. Outside of practicing law, Heather spends time with her four children and runs a book club.
